Day 1: Rand­burg to Kim­ber­ley — 14 April

The tour received a warm wel­come at its start­ing point in Rand­burg. Peo­ple from dif­fer­ent walks of life gath­ered to meet Dave Barr at the Ann Hard­ing Cheshire Home. He talked to the res­i­dents with dis­abil­i­ties and faces lit up with this remark­able man’s inspi­ra­tional story.

The Media jumped on board with jour­nal­ists from Kyknet, SABC Dig­i­tal News, Netwerk24 & Rand­burg Sun inter­view­ing Dave ahead of the departure.

The Harley David­son engines revved into action and with that the tour was off to their next des­ti­na­tion, a lunch at the Pan­cake Man in Klerksdorp.

We arrived to a great team from Gas­boys who fed us deli­cious sweet and savoury pancakes.

With our stom­achs full it was time to refuel and hit the road again.

The land­scapes rolled on by until the bikes started to run low on fuel about 80 kilo­me­ters out­side of Kim­ber­ley. The Rough Rid­ers how­ever made a plan and soon we were on our way to meet Flip Kuhn from the Bik­ers Church in Kimberley.
