Day 1: Randburg to Kimberley — 14 April
The tour received a warm welcome at its starting point in Randburg. People from different walks of life gathered to meet Dave Barr at the Ann Harding Cheshire Home. He talked to the residents with disabilities and faces lit up with this remarkable man’s inspirational story.
The Media jumped on board with journalists from Kyknet, SABC Digital News, Netwerk24 & Randburg Sun interviewing Dave ahead of the departure.
The Harley Davidson engines revved into action and with that the tour was off to their next destination, a lunch at the Pancake Man in Klerksdorp.
We arrived to a great team from Gasboys who fed us delicious sweet and savoury pancakes.
With our stomachs full it was time to refuel and hit the road again.
The landscapes rolled on by until the bikes started to run low on fuel about 80 kilometers outside of Kimberley. The Rough Riders however made a plan and soon we were on our way to meet Flip Kuhn from the Bikers Church in Kimberley.
We arrived to a beautiful Bring & BRaai with music, food & best of all, good people.
Dave met with Gert Smith who is also an amputee. A successful first day for the Chutzpah Adventure Tour 2015.
