Day 10: Ingeli Forest Lodge to Nottingham Road
Dave and the team of Rough Riders left Ingeli Forest Lodge early in the morning on our way to Nottingham Road via Africa Bike Week in Margate.
Thanks to the advice from our friends from Steel Wings, we were escorted by some bikers through Oribi Gorge which was absolutely breathtaking.
The streets of Margate was packed with bikers from all walks of life — and bikes.
Friendly faces, sleek two-wheeled machines, what more does a person want?
Dave and Bushy McKelvey did a great job in selling some of Dave’s books and merchandise.
Before we knew it, it was time to hit the open road again.
We arrived at Monty Brett’s beautiful home just outside Nottingham Road.
Montgomary Brett was an Officer Commander in the 2 Bataljon Parashoot Brigade and the 44 Parachute Brigade and a very close friend of Dave ever since. A legend and a true gentleman.
We were very happy to have the company of Zulu speaking Bushy McKelvey, holder of the world record for the greatest distance on a motorbike in 24 hours by an individual, covering an incredible 3 257.5km on a motorbike in 24 hours.
We were all a little bit tired by the time we got to Nottingham Road but a delcious supper and soft bed awaited us.
